Pastel Spider Study

This was a piece that I made for my Drawing II class at TCC for the spring 2019 semester. Our professor wanted us to do macro studies of bugs and insects, but I got permission to do a spider, and naturally I had to pick a jumping spider (they're just so cute).

The funny story behind this piece is that I had discovered by this point in the class that oil pastels weren't so bad when you actually used pastel paper to work on instead of watercolor paper. I ended up finishing him in the four hour period of the class, and it was really fun to work on his eyes and the little hairs on his mandibles.
